SLIDING SASH WINDOWS - Our Specialty

Due to planning requirements orders of Sash windows and Yorkshire lights are increasing all the time. Traditional box with pulleys or spiral spring balances. Single or double glazed. Built in weatherseals and hardwood cills if required.

Minimum of five glazing bar sections, from the 16mm fine pencil bead mould to the 39mm Ovolo glazing bar. Flush fitting trickle vents in the top rail of the top sash if required and thumb turn locking fastner.

FRETWORK GLAZING BARS

Normally our standard glazing bar when accommodating individual double glazed units into Georgian frames is 39mm wide. A popular alternative in achieving fine glazing bars when incorporating double glazed units is to use one double glazed unit with spacer bar fret work between the two panes of glass of the unit then to produce timber fretwork glazing bars applied to both sides of the unit. The result therefore produces a more aesthetically acceptable glazing bar of 18mm wide yet still retaining a double glazed unit as required by regulations. We can manufacture this system on all windows and doors especially sash windows.

STAIRCASES Over recent years with the popularity of loft conversions we have seen substantial growth on winder stairs. Winder and straight flights available. Closed or open cut strings. Square or turned newals. Standard construction is Ex 225mm x 38mm redwood strings with 25mm MDF treads and 9mm MDF risers, however we can manufacture the stairs using any timber or sheet material specified. (please note we are unable to supply curved handrail and baserail).

DOOR FRAMES AND DOORS

Frames made from any size section and type of timber as required. Ovolo or bevel section as standard but we can manufacture to any mould as specified on your drawings or samples provided including weatherseals. Doors manufactured to any design and are morticed and tenoned to traditional methods of construction.

CONSERVATORY FRAMES

We can provide frames, doors and roof components as required to our standard sections and recommendations or to your architectural designed drawings and photographs. Powder coated aluminum roof cappings, finial, crestings and tie bars are available separately with the timber roof components if required.

STORMPROOF AND FLUSH FITTING WINDOWS.

Windows individually manufactured or batch run as required. Our stormproof windows can accommodate a 24mm double glazed unit and come with friction hinges, locking handles and weatherseals. Flush fitting windows where the sashes are flush to the front of the outer frames are normally manufactured with ovolo moulds internally to match original windows on site and can accommodate single or double glazing as necessary.

CURVED AND ANGLED WORK

We continue to produce curved headed door frames, doors, windows and screens. Sliding sash windows curved in plan view i.e. bow windows are also available. Angled headed frames to your design and requirements.

SHOP FRONTS, COUNTERS ETC

Shop fronts to copy original on site or to any design and timber section as specified. Counters and units manufactured from customers drawings using veneered MDF, solid timber or laminated as requested.

ESTIMATES ARE FREE HOWEVER SITE SURVEYS ARE SUBJECT TO A CHARGE WHICH IS REFUNDABLE IF THE CONTRACT IS RECEIVED WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF ESTIMATE DATE.

COMPANY HISTORY

Robert Laverack (Managing Director) set up a joinery manufacturing business as a sole proprietor in July 1984 with a few basic machines in premises at Layerthorpe, York.

Laverack Joinery Ltd now occupy larger premises at Birch Park off Huntington Road, York with extensive woodworking machinery and a total of 15 staff.

The company is committed to investing in staff training and development. We continue to sponsor apprentices at college therefore ensuring bench joinery skills for the future.
